What We Do
We are a full-service tree company, owned in Connecticut by a licensed arborist. Through the art of tree climbing, we safely handle jobs most other services cannot — with minimal ground damage and maximum care.
Core Service
Proper pruning is one of the most effective methods to keep your trees healthy, beautiful, and safe. Each type serves a different purpose — we'll recommend the right one for your trees.
01 — CROWN CLEANING
Selective removal of dead, dying, or diseased branches. One of the most effective methods of pruning to keep your trees healthy.
02 — CROWN THINNING
Selective removal of branches to increase light penetration, air movement, and reduce weight — without changing the tree's natural shape.
03 — CROWN RAISING
Removal of lower branches to provide clearance for buildings, vehicles, pedestrians, and views.
04 — CROWN REDUCTION
Decreases the height and/or spread of a tree. Careful consideration is given to the species and its ability to tolerate reduction.
05 — CROWN RESTORATION
Improves the structure, form, and appearance of trees that have been severely over-pruned, headed, or damaged.
06 — VISTA PRUNING
Selective thinning of framework limbs or specific areas of the crown to allow a view of an object — a lake, ridgeline, or landmark.
Structural Support
With the careful eye of a trained arborist, we can identify trees in need of structural support. V-crotches with included bark are inherently weak — and many sections of trees are simply too heavy to support themselves over time.
Carefully and strategically installing steel cabling with proper, state-of-the-art hardware can dramatically improve the structural integrity of your trees while keeping safety a high priority.

Tree Health
Trees will almost always have some insect damage or ailment. An experienced arborist will be able to diagnose and treat the problem when control is needed.
A focus on the environment is important when considering how to treat your trees. Chemicals can be very dangerous and should be applied only by professionals. A good rule: keep up on the health and maintenance of your trees and you will have much fewer insect and disease problems.
Soil & Root Care
Fertilization is important in keeping your trees healthy. A soil sample should be done to know exactly what deficiencies are present. Careful consideration should be taken with mature trees and certain species when fertilizing.
A basic fertilization application includes nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium with micro-nutrients. Certain other ingredients may be needed to help promote root growth and better root uptake and absorption.
Soil compaction is very common in a tree's root area and will limit the oxygen available to your root system. By fertilizing, you also aerate the soil in the root area — creating macro pores, the space in the soil where oxygen is found — to prevent suffocating your trees.
Emergency Service
When trees are damaged or taken down by a storm, the situation can be extremely dangerous. Storm damage should only be worked on by professionals. Trees under very high tension — large leaders or entire trees leaning on a house — require highly skilled, experienced hands.
Please do not let anyone get put in a dangerous situation. Tree work alone is dangerous — and storm-damaged trees are among the most unpredictable. A highly skilled professional is the only one to use in these conditions.
Passion For Trees has the experience to handle your storm-damaged trees safely and quickly. We work with many insurance companies to help you get out of danger and back into your home as soon as possible.
Emergency Help →Expert Take-Downs
Trees that have dead branches, weakened sections, or structural issues such as V-shaped crotches with included bark can become serious safety concerns. During a hazardous tree assessment, trained arborists carefully inspect these conditions because internal decay, rotted centers, and stress cracks are not always visible from the outside. Additional risks can also exist within the tree itself — including animals such as squirrels, bees, or raccoons that may be living inside hollow trunks or branches.
In many cases, these trees require the attention of a Hard-to-Reach Tree Specialist. Some trees grow in tight areas where traditional equipment cannot operate safely — making these projects more technical and carefully planned. Our team uses advanced climbing and rigging techniques to perform Low-Impact Tree Removal, protecting nearby structures, gardens, and lawns while safely dismantling hazardous trees.
Precision Work
Trees growing in areas with sprinkler systems, or simply over a nice lawn, require a different approach. You do not want a tree service company to take your tree down and smash great big holes in your lawn — then tell you that was the only way it could be done.
There are a few different techniques, depending on the tree and the situation, that can be performed to do as minimal ground disturbance as possible — if any at all. Keep in mind this will take longer and will cost more in time and money.
The end result is well worth hiring the professional.
High-Risk Specialty
Trees growing near electrical wires are the most dangerous trees to work on. Passion For Trees and its employees are well trained and continue ongoing training.
In tree work with electricity, there is a very big difference between to know and to know how. You can get electrocuted many different ways. Being Line Clearance Certified is not enough — some situations are too dangerous to perform with the power on. Your service wires to your house may be rubbing and touching your trees.
Always hire a well-trained professional to work on trees that are near or touching your wires.
Cleanup
After your trees are removed, we use a wood chipper to chip up all the branches into wood chips — the most efficient way to dispose of your tree's branches. The wood chips can be used for mulching around your trees, adding many benefits to your plants.
Cleanup
When the wood from your trees needs to be removed, we use a ground-friendly machine to lift the wood that does little to no damage to your lawn. If you want to keep your wood, we can cut it into firewood lengths for your wood stove or fireplace.
Finishing Touch
The most economical way to remove your unsightly tree stump is to use a stump grinder — a less abrasive process than traditional stump removal, resulting in great cost savings and eliminating damage to your lawn. We offer this service and grind stumps 4–8 inches below the ground.
As an added bonus, stump grinding creates mulch which you can use around your yard in flowerbeds, gardens, and around trees. You can simply have us remove the grindings as well. You then fill the hole with top soil and plant grass.

The end result is like there was never a tree there. The end result is well worth hiring the professional. Passion For Trees is at your service — from the ground on up.
